Genies is an avatar technology company that focuses on digital identity.

Genies’ goal in 2023 was to create a crowd-sourced ecosystem of 3D assets for their digital fashion mobile app, Silver Studio.
All of the digital clothing that was provided on Silver Studio was created by Genies- a time consuming and laborious process. As Silver Studio was growing and the demand for more digital fashion arose in the application, we decided weren’t able to provide enough quality items internally for the demand our users had in Silver Studio.

Solution

How might we create a crowd-sourced platform where users create 3D wearables?

We wanted to create a platform where 3D artists could submit digital fashion that we’d release to our users on Silver Studio.

Our hypothesis was that if we fostered an artist community that submitted enough 3D fashion, we could solve two problems:

a) Our users would be fueled with enough digital fashion to post unique outfits on Silver Studio
b) We could relocate our internal 3D artists to other important work to save the business’ resources

To test our hypothesis, we chose a design route that was the least amount of effort to build. Our process involved building an inspiring website that gave artists enough information to create 3D pieces both creatively and technically, with a simple outsourced submit form.

Outcomes

Successfully launched this feature within one month as the only designer with a team of 35 engineers.

50 digital items successfully submitted & accepted within the first 60 days.
